H.R. "Short" Saufley III: Founder and Owner
Short, born in 1935 in Stanford, Kentucky, is a visionary whose journey embodies dedication and community spirit. After graduating from Stanford High School and earning a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Kentucky, Short served as a U.S. Army Helicopter Pilot in Germany. Returning to Kentucky, he worked as a civil engineer before purchasing the old Cowden Manufacturing building in 1963 to create Builder's Supply. Through hard work and perseverance, he expanded the business from a modest operation to a comprehensive home center, developing local neighborhoods and enhancing the community. An active leader, Short served on the Kentucky Lumberman's Association Board, including as president, and remains involved in Builder's Supply’s daily operations, reflecting his commitment to quality and service.
Lee Saufley Swain: Personal Designer & Owner

Lee Saufley Swain graduated from Rollins College and gained valuable experience working with a property development company in Atlanta, GA, before joining the family business in 1989. Having spent her early years in her father's office, playing with his blueprints, it was only natural for Lee to return home and become an integral part of Builder's Supply. Today, she enjoys working alongside her father, taking great pride in continuing the traditions he started in 1963. As our house design consultant, Lee works on both commercial and residential projects, helping clients bring their visions to life.
Lee and Short have enjoyed watching Lee's son, Caswell grow up in the family business. He is finishing his senior year at Rollin's College with a degree in Business Management. Cas has grown up at Builder's Supply and has enjoyed being part of the team and helping his family grow the business.
Jeff Durham: Director of Operations

Jeff Durham has been a cornerstone of Builder's Supply for 36 years. A native of Lincoln County, Jeff is known for always having a smile on his face and a readiness to assist every customer who walks through our doors. As our store manager, contractor liaison, and cabinet designer, Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge to our team and plays a crucial role in our success. He is especially known for his warm interactions and always being exceptionally helpful to our valued customers. Jeff's commitment to Builder's Supply reflects the importance of family within our business.
Greg Durham: Customer Service Representative
Greg Durham, the other half of the Durham brother team, joined Builders Supply in May 2008. Also a native of Lincoln County and a resident of Stanford, KY, Greg's extensive experience in the hardware, paint, and home center industry makes him a valuable asset to our team. Well known for his patience, Greg ensures that every customer receives the attention and support they need. The Durham brothers' presence at Builders Supply underscores our dedication to family values and exceptional customer service.

Gary Grubbs, a native of Danville, KY, brings over 20 years of experience in the paint industry to Builder's Supply. Known for his passion for perfection, Gary is an expert in custom matching paints and stains. He has honed his skills working for Sherwin Williams, Porter Paints Group, and Wilcher Interiors before joining our team. His dedication to achieving the perfect finish makes him an invaluable asset to our customers and our team.
Gail Isaacs: Accountant

Gail Isaacs, a proud native of Lincoln County, retired from the Lincoln County School Board before coming out of retirement to assist us at Builders Supply. With her extensive skills in bookkeeping Gail is an invaluable asset to our team. Her deep love for her town is reflected in her dedication to her work. Both her husband and son are talented contractors who share Gail's strong values and commitment to quality and community.

Known for his jolly demeanor and warm personality, Kirby brings a touch of Santa-like cheer to every interaction, making the planning process both enjoyable and efficient.
Sam Bishop: Senior Yard Coordinator & Delivery
Sam Bishop brings over 20 years of truck driving experience to Builder's Supply. As a crucial part of our team, he ensures our yard and deliveries run smoothly. Known for his love for animals and his keen attention to detail, Sam consistently provides reliable and efficient service, ensuring every delivery meets our high standards.
Jeremy Collins: Yard Coordinator & Delivery
Jeremy Collins, U.S. Army veteran, brings a wealth of experience and a unique background to Builder's Supply. Having lived across the United States and Europe, including stints in Germany, Las Vegas, Utah, and Georgia, Jeramy has a broad perspective and a wealth of stories. In his role, he ensures our yard and deliveries run smoothly alongside Sam Bishop. Known for his passion for the Georgia Bulldogs and his dedicated work ethic, Jeramy is an invaluable part of our team, providing dependable and efficient service with every delivery.
Josh Hatfield: Jack of All Trades
Josh Hatfield, a native of Lincoln County, is known for his versatility and passion for fishing and fast cars. In the store, Josh does a little bit of everything, ensuring that all aspects of Builder's Supply run smoothly. His dedication and diverse skill set make him an invaluable asset to our team, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed.
Jake Hester: Intern
Jake Hester, from Lancaster KY, graduated from BCHS and is currently studying for his associate degree in Construction Technology. He brings to the table a passion for design, architecture, great work ethic and a winning attitude. We are fortunate to have Jake join our team as an intern from BCTC.
